Message	:the shorter its shelf life, because they would start to separate. :On Bob Is The Oil Guy, Ive read of people doing a oil analysis on 4 year old shelf oil and it still being good. :Every year? especially on an engine that wasnt run? I would chalk that up to sales numbers rather than science. I would assume because of the lack of contact with air. Inthe sump the exposure to air would allow things to evaoprate off and allow chemical reasctions in the oil to take place too
